Update from Dec 21: No Rezoning for Now

The Summit Planning Board met on Dec 21, heard yet again from both sides.  Both the developer and the local residence had their own planners testify.  Residence also presented an innovative "balloon study" in which several helium balloons were flown to the 48 ft hight of the proposed project, and photographed them towering over local residences.

For a full summary of the meeting, see Bob Faszczewski's TapInto article: Summit Planning Board Unanimously Rejects Proposed Gateway I Expansion.

To summarize, two motions were made at the conclusion of the meeting.
  • The Board voted and unanimously rejected the proposal to have 25 Deforest included into the Gateway-1 zone.  Many members of the Board agreed that the proposal was far too large.
  • The Board voted and unanimously agreed to establish a subcommittee, with participation of the developer as well as local residents, with the goal to define parameters for what would be appropriate to build on the property.

Thank you to everyone who contributed toward making the case against the overdevelopment of our neighborhood.  Have a happy Holiday, and see you next year.
